Projects

An illustration of kidney paired donation

StanfordKPD: A platform for kidney paired donation (KPD). It allows hospitals to store patient and donor information and find matches using an intelligent matching algorithm. It enables patients with kidney disease to find a donor for a kidney transplantation even though their donor may have an incompatible blood type. The research is under the supervision of Prof. Itai Ashlagi. [stanfordkpd.org]

SWAN: Software for identifying genomic structural variants (SVs) in next-generation sequencing (NGS) data from mixed tumor samples. SVs have significant implications that can increase the susceptibility to a variety of diseases. They are more difficult to detect than single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs). The research is under the mentorship of Dr. Li C. Xia.

Stanford Participatory Budgeting Platform: A platform for running online participatory budgeting (PB) elections, in which people can vote on the budget. It is used by over 20 cities in the US and Canada to distribute over $30,000,000 of public funds. The research is under the supervision of Prof. Ashish Goel.

Online Deliberation Platform: A video discussion platform with automated moderation. The platform is designed to facilitate a structured and equitable conversation with better opportunities for participants to share their perspectives. The platform has recently been successfully deployed as a prototype in Japan, Hong Kong, and at Stanford with 15 parallel groups each. The research is under the supervision of Prof. Ashish Goel.
